The artist is currently working on a dating website where you have to upload you browser history to make a match. In this workshop, you choose your blind data based on printed browser histories of people. Can you choose your date only by looking into his or her browser history?

To attend to this workshop you need to be aware of the following:

You will have to navigate the web for 30′ in order to collect the data needed for finding your perfect match. You will not have to give away your browser history, we will only use the history of the former navigation.

INSTRUCTOR

Dries Depoorter (BE)

The work of media artist and digital creative Dries Depoorter focuses on Internet’s place within society and the impact it has on the fields of privacy, identity – both online and off – and surveillance. Based on his work, he also gives lectures on privacy and surveillance.

Depoorter studied electronics for six years before making the switch to media arts at the KASK. His interactive media installations have been presented worldwide. In 2016 & 2017 he presented work in: Never Apart (Montreal), STRP (NL), FOMU (BE), Z33 (BE), IDFA DocLab (NL), Dutch Design Week (NL), Van Abbe Museum(NL), Internet Week Denmark (DENMARK), Western Gallery (WASHINGTON) and his solo exhibition in TETEM (NL)
Currently he lives online in Amsterdam where he is supported by Amsterdams Fonds voor de Kunst for a one-year residency.
